Group Discussion Guidelines:

We encourage members to share especially their strengths, skills, insights, successes and their hopes.

We know that we share about our personal lives in confidentiality - what is said in the group stays in the group.

We encourage "I" statements, so that everyone speaks in the first person.

It is important that we actively listen when someone else is talking and that we avoid having side conversations.

We try not to discuss persons who are not present.

Each person has the right to take part in any discussion or not.

We each share the responsibility for making the group work.

Each member's right to anonymity is respected.

The primary responsibility of the leader/facilitator is to ensure that the group is a "safe place" for its members to disclose their personal stories, fears, etc.

The primary responsibility of the leader/facilitator is not to be the "expert."

Having benefited from the help of others, we recognize the need for offering our help to others in the group.
